ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN ACT 2025

Whip Kazarian proud to vote for Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2025

STATE HOUSE – After years of advocating for her community’s safety and the advancement of common-sense gun legislation, House Majority Whip Katherine S. Kazarian voted in favor of the Rhode Island Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2025 (2025-H 5436A), held on June 5.

“Mass shootings have become far too common in our country. No one should ever be afraid to send their children to school, shop for groceries, attend religious services, or gather with loved ones in public spaces. Assault weapons are designed to cause maximum harm in the shortest amount of time. They have no place in our neighborhoods. I am proud to support legislation that will ban the sale of these weapons of war and help prevent future senseless acts of violence in our state.

“Throughout my years in public service, I’ve heard from countless constituents, students, parents, and residents who have shared heartbreaking stories of loved ones lost to gun violence. They’ve urged me to do more to stop these tragedies from happening again.

Today, I stand with them — and I put the safety and lives of our residents above the sale of assault weapons,” said Whip Kazarian (D-Dist. 63, East Providence, Pawtucket).
