Join artist Liz Perry for this two-day monotype class where we will make prints using botanical materials on plexi-glas plates, and transfer them to printmaking papers using an etching press. We will layer colors and textures for exciting color effects and transparent overlays of images. Most materials will be supplied; students can bring their own sheets of Arches printmaking paper or Liz will have some sheets to buy. Also bring pencils and paint brushes, and if you choose, some natural materials: stems of ferns, fresh cut or dried flat seaweed, leaves, grasses or flat seedpods. Natural materials should be quite flat and not have thick stems.

Liz Perry received her BFA in printmaking from Alfred University’s College Of Ceramic Arts, where she studied with printmaker/photographer John Wood. For the past 50 years, she has continued to study with many other fine artists, and works in various forms of printmaking, including collagraph, multiple plate linocut, monoprint, drypoint, encaustic and mixed media.

Liz is co-president of the Printmakers of Cape Cod, where she has served on their board for many years. She is the owner of Blue Jacket Studios in Brewster.

Unleash your inner artist in “A Million Right Ways to Draw,” a liberating one-day workshop with artist Chuck Stigliano designed to break down perceived drawing limitations and celebrate diverse artistic expression. Through engaging exercises and playful drawing games, you’ll discover that capturing photographic realism is just one path among countless others. This class empowers individuals, regardless of prior experience, to explore a multitude of approaches and find their own unique and valid ways of drawing, with each assignment offering a standalone opportunity for creative exploration and discovery. No experience required and all materials are provided. This class will be held at our Hyannis campus on the first floor in the Sketchpad!

Chuck Stigliano is a seasoned artist and educator with a strong foundation in classical figurative sculpture, honed under the tutelage of Professor Charles Stigliano. Currently sharing his expertise at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Massachusetts College of Art + Design, Chuck’s teaching philosophy extends beyond technical proficiency, encouraging students to engage with the social and conceptual dimensions of their art. His previous experience includes online instruction with Creative Live and community outreach through the Boston Public Library’s “Fashion Tales” program. His sculptural work, primarily in wood, has been exhibited and in recent years reflects a concern with contemporary cultural issues, disease, and deception, balanced by an optimism in the potential of women and younger generations. His artistic perspective is also informed by the myth of Pygmalion.
