On July 1, 2025, we and all MA residents lose access to 21 databases formerly provided by the state. This is a result of federal funding cuts.

This pdf provides a breakdown of the funding situation, as well as a list of the continued/discontinued databases.

Brochures around the library include much of the same information.

The databases that Attleboro patrons heavily used include Heritage Quest, LegalForms, and Peterson’s Test/Career Prep. Descriptions of these resources are:

Peterson’s Test/Career Prep offers full-length practice tests for GED, SAT, ACT, AP, PSAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, TOEFL, U.S. citizenship, and more. It offers information on undergraduate and graduate programs and tuition and scholarship assistance, as well as a resume builder and interviewing advice.

Whether you’re a student planning for college or a professional embarking on a new career path, Gale Presents: Peterson’s Test Prep can help you along the way.

HeritageQuest is a broad database of genealogical information includes tens of thousands of family and local history books, as well as federal census data (1790-1930). It’s a great resource for tracing North American lines of descent.

LegalForms offers access and customization of official Federal and MA State legal forms.

The Attleboro Library Reference staff is actively looking for affordable options to replace these important online tools that contribute to the development and enrichment of our community.
