Our @hopesharvestri team has been out in the fields rescuing surplus summer produce—kale, collards, lettuce, squash, onions, and more—from local farms and delivering it to hunger relief agencies across Rhode Island.

FARM TO SCHOOL & COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Farm to School and Community Education enrich the connection people of all ages have to local food, agriculture, nutrition, and the environment through hands-on education. Farm Fresh RI focuses on providing the information needed to make healthful choices about food that reflect peoples’ values, health, and culture.
We provide these services in a variety of settings across the state — including at K-12 schools, libraries, preschool/daycare settings, community centers, farms, senior centers and residences, and farmers markets. And as a core partner for the National Farm to School Network, we serve as a liaison for information, resources, needs, and opportunities from the state with the national network.
What We Offer
We strive to be the local food system go-to for the community, offering a variety of services, programs, and resources. Our Farm to School team provides a “Harvest of the Month” campaign, cafeteria taste tests, garden programs, in-class and after-school lessons on the food system, and one-on-one assistance for school communities. Our Community Education team delivers programming outside of schools — such as hands-on cooking demonstrations at senior centers, farmers-market based activities, summer camp gardening programs, and outreach at local events. We are also available to help connect you to local farms, locally grown food, and resources!
