Dear Pawtucket Residents,
The City is pleased to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15. This year’s theme is “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” and we began the month commemorating the countries of Central America.

All this week, we held ceremonial flag raisings honoring Costa Rica, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala.
We are also accepting nominations for the annual Hispanic Heritage Month Community Impact Awards. These awards honor individuals in Pawtucket who have made significant contributions to the lives of others.
The month-long celebration concludes with the Hispanic Heritage Month Community Impact Awards ceremony, scheduled for October 9, 2025, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Blackstone Valley Visitor’s Center located at 175 Main Street, Downtown Pawtucket. The evening will celebrate the accomplishments of the award winners and feature local food vendors, musicians, and artists. This event is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.

Sincerely,
Mayor Donald R. Grebien
