SKYDOG FARM SANCTUARY

The Wild Thread: Week of November 11, 2025

Hello Wild Ones

 Into the Dark We Go

This week I’m writing from a tender place.

Mark and I lost two beloved members of our inner circle just days apart—one on Halloween, the other the following Friday. Our Ram Dass retreat fell right between their crossings, a bright ember glowing in a week marked by loss. Our hearts are with all of you who have recently lost loved ones as well.

Gathering Around the Fire

During these days, I kept thinking of the “Sitting Around the Fire” piece with Ram Dass—his voice drifting over flame and cosmos, reminding us that even when we feel emptied out, the fire isn’t gone. Sometimes it seems as though there’s no ember left at all, only cooled ash. But if we sift gently through what remains, there is always one small ember waiting. And when we lean close and blow on it, warmth returns. Light returns. And we never have to tend that ember alone.

This is the gift of satsang—of true community. When our own ember feels too faint to nurture, the circle gathers close and helps it glow again, until the flame grows steady and strong. I could feel that longing in the people who came to our recent gatherings.

One woman drove three hours for the Ram Dass retreat.

Another traveled two hours for the Croning Ceremony.

They weren’t seeking information; they were seeking warmth, witness, belonging. Both gatherings felt like medicine—a circle of souls leaning toward something ancient and steady, warming our hands around the mystery together. A reminder that connection heals, presence steadies, and love outlives everything.

The Descent Season

Scorpio season brings us into the deeper chambers of ourselves. The land turns inward. Leaves surrender. The gardens rest. It is the ancient rhythm of letting go so new life can find its way.

How are these darker nights shaping you?
What wants to be put down?
What wants to root?

If you need support, companionship, or a place to speak what’s true for you, know that you are welcome to reach out. I’m here to listen, to sit with the truth of things, and to walk with you through this darker season.

From the hearth of the sanctuary,
Katherine & Mark
