The Newport String Project presents the second weekend of its Newport County Concert Series on Saturday, December 6th at 2pm at The Meeting House in Tiverton Four Corners. This atmospheric and passionate program will feature the project’s resident ensemble, the Newport String Quartet, performing works by Mendelssohn, Sirmen, Hovhaness and Oboe Lee.
This program will feature Mendelssohn’s dramatic and melody filled String Quartet in e minor op 44 no 2 which displays the composer at the height of his powers. Also featured on the program are a collection of rarely heard works by the trailblazing composer Maddalena Sirmen and two fascinating composers Alan Hovhaness and Thomas Oboe Lee. Perfect for a winter’s afternoon, this moody and atmospheric program promises to fill your festive season with a moment of ease and inspiration.
This concert coincides with Bright Night & re-Tree Community Exhibition weekend festivities in Tiverton Four Corners.
