Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England Makes Donation to Operation Holiday Cheer
WARWICK, RI (November 20, 2025)—Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) donated over 2,400 containers of nuts to Operation Holiday Cheer!

Each September and October, Girl Scouts take orders in person from friends and family for delicious nuts and candy as part of the Fall Product Program. During this program, Girl Scouts develop five essential skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. In addition, troops get a head start on funding their activities for the year! Customers also have the option to purchase nuts which get donated to local service members through Operation Holiday Cheer.
Operation Holiday Cheer is an annual care package initiative for Rhode Island service members who will be stationed away from home during the holidays. It is organized by the Lieutenant Governor’s Office in partnership with the Rhode Island National Guard Family Assistance Center, the United States Postal Service, the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Rhode Island Blue Star Moms, and Operation Stand Down Rhode Island. The program relies entirely on the generosity of individuals and corporate and community sponsors who provide in-kind or financial contributions.
Contributions are collected from across the state, and volunteers help assemble the packages for shipment during a single weekend. This year, over 300 care packages were assembled and shipped during the weekend of November 15-16. Girl Scouts and volunteers from Troop 602 in Newport/Middletown were on site to help assemble the care packages. Girl Scouts from Troop 602 have been attending this event for the past ten years!

“Operation Holiday Cheer is a meaningful way for Girl Scouts to put our commitment to community service into action. By participating, we not only help brighten the holidays for service members who are away from home, but we also teach our Girl Scouts the value of gratitude, generosity, and making a difference. It gives them the chance to see how even small efforts a big impact can have—spreading joy and creating connections well beyond their own communities,” said Ginger Lallo, Chief Operating Officer at GSSNE.
We Are Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs across Southeastern New England, girls and gender-expansive youth of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves in a safe space as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges.
Backed strong friendships and trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them. Girl Scouts feel comfortable trying new things without the pressure to be perfect, speaking their minds, and processing their emotions in healthy ways.
They discover how being different makes them special, strengthens their sense of belonging, and, ultimately, makes them proud to be themselves.
That’s the magic of Girl Scouting. To join us, volunteer, reconnect, or donate, visit gssne.org, follow @gssne on Instagram, follow @GirlScoutsofSNE on Twitter, and like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/GSSNE.
