RIPTA: EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING

RIPTA Recognized Nationally for Excellence in Financial Reporting and Budget Presentation

Awards Reflect Agency’s Commitment to Transparency, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement

Providence, Rhode Island – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has once again received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its FY 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its FY 2025-2030 Annual Financial Plan.

This marks the thirteenth consecutive year that RIPTA has received the Certificate of Achievement and the fourth consecutive year it has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

“These national awards reflect RIPTA’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and excellence in financial management,” said Chief Executive Officer Christopher Durand. “Despite constant change and budget challenges, RIPTA has maintained a high standard of performance to ensure continued success and compliance with the many regulations we must follow.”

Durand added, “Participation in GFOA’s programs connects us with best practices, emerging trends, and the importance of thinking beyond the numbers to strengthen our organization. We are better and stronger for being part of this program.”

The Certificate of Achievement is “the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.” Both awards are determined by an impartial panel that evaluates submissions against national standards.

Founded in 1906, the Government Finance Officers Association represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. Their mission is to “advance excellence in public finance.”For more information on RIPTA services, call 401-781-9
