The Pirate’s Wife: The Remarkable True Story of Sarah Kidd

Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse welcomes Dr. Daphne Palmer Geanacopoulos to Weaver Library for an evening of fascinating insights into the life of Sarah Kidd, the wife of the notorious Captain William Kidd. An American women’s historian with an interest in maritime history, she will discuss her book, The Pirate’s Wife: The Remarkable True Story of Sarah Kidd.

The non-fiction book tells tales of the Golden Age of Piracy in 17th and 18th century colonial America. Sarah Kidd acted as an accomplice and a defender of her swashbuckling husband, yet her resourcefulness and resilience has been forgotten in history.
Dr. Geanacopoulos is an historian, journalist and author living in Cape Cod, MA. She first became interested in pirates when doing a story about the Whydah Pirate Museum on the Cape. Since then, she has done extensive research on pirates and their wives.

On Monday, March 2, Dr. Geanacopoulos will make a presentation at 6:30 PM at Weaver Library, 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence.
She will also have copies of her books available for purchase.
Come early at 6:00 PM for light refreshments and to socialize.
