RI REQUEST FOR SUSPENSION OF BIODIESEL BLEND REQUIRMENT

SENATE  MINORITY AND MAJORITY LEADERS AND WHIPS REQUEST TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF B20 BIODIESEL BLEND REQUIREMENT

STATE HOUSE, Providence – Senate Minority Whip Gordon Rogers and Senate Majority Whip David Tikoian, joined by Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la  Cruz and Senate Majority Leader Frank Ciccone, sent a joint letter today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to Governor Daniel J. Mckee and Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Director Terrence Gray requesting the temporary suspension of B20 biodiesel blend requirement under R.I. Gen. Laws § 23-23.7-7.

This bi-partisan effort stems from concern for the significant financial hardship for Rhode Island residents as a result of this mandate.

Additionally, Whip Rogers and Whip Tikoian will submit legislation to roll back the standard to the B10 requirement implemented in 2023 and delay compliance to the B20 standard, enacted in July 2025, by five years.
