PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND MOVING FORWARD

Dear Neighbor,

If you’ve been down by the river lately, you can feel it, Pawtucket is moving forward.

What started with Centreville Bank Stadium is quickly becoming something much bigger: a connected, welcoming riverfront that belongs to everyone who lives here. Step by step, we’re opening up access to the waterfront and creating new places to walk, gather, and enjoy our city.

Over the next year, you’ll start to see real progress on several major improvements. New pedestrian connections will link Pleasant Street and Taft Street directly to the riverwalk and Blackstone Bikeway, making it easier and safer to get around on foot or by bike. These upgrades will include better lighting, improved sidewalks, ADA-accessible crossings, and new landscaped plazas, designed for everyday use by residents.

We’re also completing the riverwalk along the stadium side, connecting Centreville Bank Stadium to Town Landing. This means more paved walking paths, new lighting, seating areas, and a boardwalk overlook where you can stop, relax, and take in the river. There will even be space for future public art and small gatherings.

Looking ahead, plans are moving forward for a new pedestrian bridge that will connect both sides of Tidewater Landing, along with public plazas, overlooks, and a stormwater park that helps protect the river while adding green space for the community.

This isn’t just about development; it’s about quality of life. It’s about turning our waterfront into a place where families can spend time, neighbors can connect, and residents can take pride in the city they call home.

Pawtucket’s river has always been part of our story. Now, we’re making sure it’s part of our future, open, accessible, and built for everyone.

More updates are coming, and I look forward to sharing each milestone with you as we keep moving Pawtucket forward together.

Warm regards,

Mayor Donald R. Grebien

City of Pawtucket
