EAST PROVIDENCE LIBRARY

SPRING BOOK SALE APRIL 9-12, 2026 AT WEAVER LIBRARY

Attention book lovers! Two rooms at Weaver Library will offer thousands of reasonably-priced books at the Friends of the East Providence Public Library Spring Book Sale on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, April 12 from 1-5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit library programs, including museum passes and special projects and events.

A Members Only Preview Sale for Friends of the Library will be held on Thursday, April 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Individuals can join for a $10 per person annual membership fee, payable in advance or at the door. Bookshelves are continuously restocked throughout the weekend, so visit more than once to see a wide variety of books.

What makes this sale different from other book sales is the quality of the books and the organization of the sale. Friends of the Library volunteers select the best books and sort them into more than 80 categories to make it easy for patrons to find what they are looking for. Books are arranged on upright book shelves or book carts, so that they can be easily reached. Novels, including paperbacks, are sorted alphabetically by author. The book sale is arranged to be accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.

Thousands of items are included in the sale, most priced at $1 for hard cover and soft cover books, CDs, DVDs and audio books. Recently released novels by popular authors will sell for $3. Teachers and parents are invited to peruse the large selection of books for children, including hard cover picture books, board books, beginner readers and activity books, as well as fiction and non-fiction books for young adults, all priced at 50¢. Puzzle enthusiasts can explore the more than 100 once-assembled jig saw puzzles, each stored in zip-lock bags in their original box. Hundreds of never-offered-before comic books will also be available at 50¢. A special selection of collectibles, which will be offered at the sale, is listed on the library website at https://www.eastprovidencelibrary.org/about/friends-of-the-library/. Included will be antiquarian, first edition and author-signed books, history, Rhode Island history, classics and interesting finds.  “Gentle” mystery books and quilt books will be included in the Cats, Crimes and Quilts Collection in memory of longtime Friends’ book sale volunteer, Sharon Dubois.

For your convenience, for the first time at this sale, payment can be made by Venmo, as well as by cash or check. Questions? Call the library at (401) 434-2453.
