RISCPA Launches Accounting & Financial Collaborative Workforce Skills Training Program for College Students

Cranston, RI. – The RI Society of CPAs (RISCPA) has launched the Accounting & Financial Collaborative, a workforce training program involving RealJobsRI, college students and leading Rhode Island public accounting firms in a new initiative aimed at college juniors and seniors who are majors in accounting and finance. Working with RealJobsRI and in partnership with Rhode Island College, RISCPA has brought together the firms BlumShapiro, DiSanto, Priest & Co., Piccerelli, Gilstein & Co., LLP, Sansiveri, Kimball & Co., LLP and TD Bank in an effort to increase the talent development pipeline and strengthen the state’s workforce.
The first session launches with a 5-week training program where students will receive soft skills training in the areas of business development and sales, presentations and public speaking, social media usage, thought leadership, personal branding, marketing, networking, project management, financial literacy and more.
“RISCPA is excited to launch this collaborative program, as we believe we can be a significant partner to the state’s efforts to enhance the skills of our future workforce, particularly in these dynamic finance sector professions,” says RISCPA President Melissa Travis.
“We are confident that not only will these students benefit from the additional skills our collaborative program is offering, but the firms will benefit as new young professionals with enhanced skills become their employees.”
The program trainings, open to college juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or better, are being held May 13-June 19 at the RISCPA Training Center, at 40 Sharpe Drive, Unit 5, Cranston, RI, from 9 AM-12 noon.
Bus transportation passes are available to participating students. To register or find out more information, contact info@riscpa.org or call 401-331-5720.
