Registration is open for Rhode Island’s 35th Annual Statewide Historic Preservation Conference , on Saturday, April 25 at CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick.
Post-war residential subdivisions, shopping centers, roadside architecture, Modernist school buildings and houses of worship have surpassed historic preservation’s “50-year rule”— the threshold for designating historic properties.
Perhaps no place in Rhode Island reflects the impact of mid-century design more than Warwick, a city transformed by suburban development after World War II and home to CCRI’s Knight Campus (1968-1972), one of the state’s most significant Modern buildings.
Join us in Warwick as we urge historic preservation forward by looking back to the future.
