Attleboro Public Library January

This newsletter is scheduled to arrive in your inbox on New Year’s Eve, one of the best times of year for reflecting and planning. This year I’m reflecting on the changes that have taken place at the APL since I first sat in the director’s office. I was recently stopped in the parking lot and told by a patron they love seeing the library in the news because it always means something good is happening in the city. It is such a privilege for library staff to be working with others in Attleboro to make our home, YOUR home, a safe place to connect, explore, learn and grow.
We’re often complimented on the APL team, being told how friendly, helpful and thoughtful they are. While I admit my bias, I also know this to be true. Their ideas for improving service, their concerns for the community and the effort they put into creating popular programs impresses me every single day. You’ll see it for yourself when you visit!
2022 brought plenty of exciting news to the Library. Briana Serradas was named Attleboro’s First Poet Laureate. There was a celebration for the completion of the building renovations. Summer Reading events were held, once again, in person. Decades of newspapers were digitized. More than 200 free books were shared with downtown trick or treaters. The APL went fine-free! This was a banner year.
What will 2023 bring? Much of what happens depends on you. What would you like to see at your library? New programs? Expanded collections? New technology? Let us know. Community input is essential to the success to the library, so please share your ideas. Email the team or stop in and fill out a comment card. We love to hear from you!
One thing you can count on from the APL in 2023 is a continued focus on excellent customer service; quickly connecting patrons with the “just right” title, resource or even restaurant recommendation; timely collections of books, movies, magazines and more; and a commitment to the goals outlined in the strategic plan

I hope all of you find a reason to celebrate in the new year. I look forward to seeing you in the library!
