Film Screening: Portuguese??From SoHo at the East Providence Public Library

The Arte Institute in partnership with the Vice Consulate of Portugal in Providence is pleased to present the film “Portuguese from SoHo” at the East Providence Public Library on June 19, 2017 at 7.00pm.

The documentary ???Portuguese from SoHo??? ??? a story that changed its geography???, a film by Ana Miranda and produced by the Arte Institute, aims to tell the story of the first Portuguese immigrants arriving in the SoHo area of Manhattan, New York, after the Second World War. Through its history, viewers discover the story of this neighborhood in the heart of Manhattan. This documentary aims to be the voice of the Portuguese community by telling the unknown story of their lives in SoHo.

Text and narration are by Jos?? Luis Peixoto and the original soundtrack is by Rita Redshoes. Director Ana Ventura Miranda will be present at the screening.
