LITERARY WALKING TOUR & DISCUSSION WITH LINDEN PLACE WRITERS IN RESIDENCE
Writers will read from their works at locations throughout the grounds of the museum.

BRISTOL, R.I. – After spending the month of April working on the grounds of Linden Place, nine creative writers will present their works-in-progress at a unique, free reading and community discussion Wednesday June 11th from 6:30-8pm.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The audience will meet on the front lawn of the property and then travel around the exterior of the mansion to various pit stops where each writer delivers a short reading.
After the readings, the audience will convene in the ballroom for a moderated discussion with emcee Carla Molina, an educator, writer, and nonprofit arts director. In lieu of heavy rain, the whole event will take place in the ballroom.
This year’s resident writers are Oereishi Aeoma, Michael Ahern, Afua Ansong, Elise Dietrich, Kathryn Kulpa, Amanda Boyanowski-Morin, Marybeth Rua-Larsen, Fallon Masterson, and Melissa de Medeiros Spurr.
The diverse range of works being read include novels, short stories, poems, a screenplay, a nonfiction essay, and a graphic novel.
Now in its fourth year, the free creative writers residency program provides each writer with on-site workspace for the month of April, a $100 travel stipend, access to the museum’s archives, research support, and a one-on-one consultation with Renee Harleston of Writing Diversely, a sensitivity reader who helps them navigate potentially harmful framing, stereotypes, and other pitfalls related to writing about early Black history.
Expert judges for this year’s submissions were essayist Steve Edwards, writer and educator Lissette Acosta Corniel, and young adult author Rosaria Munda.
Bradford Dimond Norris House B&B provides discount accommodations to writers who wish to stay nearby while working, and the Bristol Historical and Preservation Society provides additional research support.
