JUDGE CAPRIO’S ‘CAUGHT IN PROVIDENCE” earnS FIFTH TV EMMY NOM
Providence, RI — The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is pleased to announce that the syndicated television sensation “Caught In Providence” starring Rhode Island’s beloved icon, Chief Judge Frank Caprio, has been nominated for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Series at the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). The nomination marks the show’s fifth since 2021, a milestone that underscores its enduring resonance with audiences worldwide.
“Caught In Providence” showcases the power of compassion from the court room bench. A true symbol of kindness and dignity, Judge Frank Caprio, who passed away nearly a year ago, always remained fair, thoughtful and had a warm sense of humor with everyone he encountered and as a result, Chief Judge Frank Caprio transformed into a global symbol for compassion.
This fifth nomination affirms his lasting place among television’s most respected figures.
Winners will be announced at the 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony on Friday, October 30, 2026 in Hollywood. “Caught In Providence” is nominated alongside “Divorce Court”, “Justice For The People with Judge Millian”, and “Mathis Court with Judge Mathis” in the Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Series category.
The Caprio Family continues to produce new episodes drawn from years of archival footage captured while Judge Caprio presided as Chief Judge of the Providence Municipal Court which now has been ceremoniously named in his honor. The footage continues to introduce his warmth and wisdom to new generations of viewers. This year’s nomination credits Judge Caprio’s brother, Joe Caprio, and his wife, Irene Caprio as Executive Producers; his sons, David Caprio and John Caprio, as Producers; and longtime Supervising Producer Taylor Warf.
