SUMMER KIDS ACTIVITIES AT EAST PROVIDENCE PUBLIC LIBRARIES

All Ages Summer Learning Challenge

Monday, June 15 – Saturday, August 22 at Weaver Library, Riverside Library, and Fuller Creative Learning Center

This summer, the East Providence Public Library challenges you—kids, teens, AND adults—to read, complete activities, and earn points to win prizes! You can also attend library programs to earn points, and this summer is absolutely packed with outdoor concerts, science experiments, technology, animals, book clubs, movies, music, and more. Rhode Island Statewide Scavenger Hunt

Monday, June 22 – Saturday, August 22 at Weaver Library and Riverside Library

For children of all ages

Join the Rhode Island Statewide Scavenger Hunt this summer to celebrate this summer’s theme, Plant a Seed, Read. Pick up a passport at any participating library, then spend June 22 through August 22 visiting libraries across the state. At each stop, look for our summer mascots, the Good Egg or Bad Seed, and get your passport stamped. Every visit to a library brings an unexpected adventure AND brings you closer to prizes! Join Étienne on a fast-paced circus adventure! Featuring juggling, zany balances, and a full cast of audience volunteers, plus the chance for YOU to try your hand at juggling and balance tricks.

Toe Jam Puppet Band

Join us for our summer finale featuring TOE JAM PUPPET BAND, a rockin’ band for kids and their grownups based in New England. Enjoy music, dancing, and tons of BIG family fun!

Magician Mike Bent Presents: Ready, Set, Grow!

Tuesday, August 4, 2pm at Weaver Library

Ages 5+

Award-winning magician Mike Bent brings his “Ready, Set, GROW!” to the library! Using hilarious comedy, amazing magic tricks, music, sound effects and riveting storytelling, this show will help even the most reluctant readers cultivate fun associations with books, and inspire kids to read all summer long.

Rescue and Rehabilitation with The Wildlife Clinic of RI

Thursday, August 13, 2pm, Riverside Branch Library

Ages 6-12

This program gives kids an opportunity to learn all about the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island. They will start with a short presentation about who they are, what wildlife rehabilitation is, how animals are rescued and transported to the clinic, and what happens when wildlife patients arrive. Then, they will move on to some hands-on activities including one where they will get to examine a domestic pigeon that serves as an education ambassador. Registration required.

Mondays from July 13-August 3, 9:30am at Weaver Library

Newborn to walking, older siblings welcome

Join us for songs, books, and bounces aimed at our littlest friends! Enjoy bonding time with your small ones and time to chat with other new and experienced parents.

Outside Toddler/Preschool Storytime

Wednesdays from July 1-August 12, 10am on the Weaver Library Lawn (or inside if inclement weather)

Ages 1-5

Join us for stories, songs, and dancing, then time to play and socialize! Siblings are welcome. Bring a blanket!

Storytime at the Park

Thursdays from July 2-August 13, 10:30am at Crescent Park (or Riverside Branch Library if inclement weather)

All ages

Come enjoy a special storytime outside at the park! Bring your own blanket.

Summer StoryWalk

All day, every day, all ages – on the lawn at Weaver Library

August’s selection is The Truth About Dragons by Julie Leung. StoryWalk® is a self-guided reading adventure that is available everyday for all ages. Pages of a picture book are displayed in frames on a trail around the perimeter of the lawn at Weaver Library. The goal of the StoryWalk® is to increase children’s interest in books and reading while encouraging healthy outdoor activity for all ages, and reconnecting children and adults to nature.
