I’m reaching out on behalf of the Gaspee Days Committee with a timely Rhode Island story and upcoming community event.
September 9 marks 250 years since the Second Continental Congress officially replaced “United Colonies” with “United States of America.”
To commemorate the milestone, Gaspee Days will present Becoming the United States – A Patriotic Concert on Saturday, September 12, from 3–6 PM at Pawtuxet Park in Warwick.
The free event will bring together West Bay Chorale, Rhode Island Wind Ensemble, the Pawtuxet Rangers and Benjamin Nacar for an afternoon of live music, living history and community participation. Highlights include a performance of Nacar’s original Rhode Island Independence March and a patriotic community sing-along.
