For nearly five decades, Maria Fatima Barros has devoted her life to a simple but powerful belief—that every person deserves to be cared for with compassion, dignity, and respect. From a young immigrant arriving in Rhode Island to a pioneering nurse, healthcare leader, mentor, and advocate, she has spent her life caring for those who needed her most while opening doors for generations who followed.
