AUDUBON SOCIETY OF RHODE ISLAND TO BREAK GROUND ON FIRST SOLAR CARPORT
Renewable Energy Project Advances Audubon’s Goal of Becoming a Net-zero Organization by 2030
Smithfield, R.I. (September 24, 2026) – The Audubon Society of Rhode Island will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a solar carport at the Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium in Bristol, Rhode Island on Friday, September 25, 2026.
This transformative renewable energy project will convert the parking area into a clean-energy asset, demonstrating how other local organizations and businesses can reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and generate renewable energy on-site.
The project marks a significant milestone in Audubon’s commitment to climate leadership and sustainability. Together with a companion carport planned for Audubon Headquarters in Smithfield, the installation will enable the Audubon Society of Rhode Island to achieve its goal of becoming a fully net-zero organization powered by renewable energy by 2030.
