PAWTUCKET ??? This past week, Captain Newman of the Neighborhood Response Unit (NRU) partnered with We Share Hope, a local non-profit organization, to collect toiletries and personal hygiene products for youth people currently residing in group homes throughout Pawtucket.??

Captain Newman came up with the collaborative concept after talking with several young men and women who brought the need for such items to his attention. ???Access to items like toothpaste and deodorant are things that folks generally take for granted,??? said Newman. ???It isn???t until you hear from some of these kids that you realize what a small contribution like this can make to a kid???s life.??? After hearing from some of the children, Newman reached out to We Share Hope, a charitable organization that collects donated of any kind and gets that donation into the hands of those who know what do with it. We Share Hope donations can range from food, clothing, and furniture. In this case, the donations were toiletries.

???Community is very important to We Share Hope. Helping those in need is what we are all about. When Captain Newman contacted me and he told me what he was trying to do I simply told him, ???We???re In???,??? said Roy Allen, Vice President of WeShareHope.org.?? Allen was joined by We Share Hope???s Elena Smith on a rainy day last week to meet Captain Newman and deliver the boxes of products to him for redistribution to several of the group homes in the City. Captain Newman states that the practice of distributing these items will now be part of an ongoing rotation for all of the City???s group homes. ???I???m very grateful for the help of We Share Hope and I know the kids are as well,??? added Newman.
