Over the May 21-22 weekend gear up for an active summer vacation and travel season ahead of time with fantastic ways to experience your new Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park in Rhode Island.

The weekend is a great opportunity to enjoy seasonal transitions by exploring the wonderful hidden treasures of the Northern Rhode Island region, offering diverse outdoor venues and amazing works of local artists

??Health and Nature

Sunday, May 22, 10 am-5 pm, Ovah the Bars, a community based group that encourages family bicycling activities, presents their Honey Wellness Festival happening inside the Blackstone River State Park & Bikeway, at the Visitor Center, Interstate 295 north, Lincoln, RI.

This family fun oriented event offers everyone a great way to discover health, nature and casual recreation! Events include themed vendors of honey, fitness and wellness items, plus local arts and crafts.

Ovah the Bars promotes ongoing programs and events encouraging children and their families how to ride without it ever feeling like a chore, fostering youth and families with super fun events and activities that bring a community together around the??love of riding.

Blackstone River State Park and Bikeway is a linear park straddling alongside the Blackstone River and portions of the Blackstone Canal and towpath. The park offers well preserved sections of the canal that served 1828-1848 as the prime transportation route between the ports of Providence and connected mill villages up into Worcester, MA.

Sensational Smithfield

The suburban town of Smithfield, RI was one of the state???s four original towns established in 1731 that consisted much of Northern RI. Despite 285 years of growth, the community still retains its rustic character and known as the state???s ???Apple Valley.???

Come and explore two sites offering public events over the weekend on Saturday, May 21.

9 am-4 pm, Seven Cedars Farm, located on George Washington Highway (Route 116), near the junction of Stillwater Road, presents its Spring Craft & Vendor Fair.

Local area artisans and vendors will be present. The farm is locally owned by the Emin family and offers an array of plants and related items. Details are online at

Also, at 4-8 pm, Relay for Life Smithfield has a Family Fun Day happening at Deerfield Park, located off Pleasant View Avenue (Route 116)

Arts in Pawtucket

The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative offers a new art exhibit running May 19 through June 23, featuring a Juried Arts Show & Exhibition.
