A Celebration of our ???Common Ground???

The National Park Service turns 100 in August and all Rhode Islanders are invited to take part in the nationwide celebration! Join Weaver Library for one or all three library events to honor the national park service and America???s 409 national parks.

Park Ranger John McNiff, who has been with the National Park Service at the Roger Williams National Memorial since 1996, presents ???Roger Williams and His Legacy??? on Monday, August 22nd at 7pm in the Champlin Program Room of the library.?? ???Discover Your New National Park???, a presentation by Park Ranger Kevin Klyberg follows on Tuesday, August 23rd at 7pm. Ranger Klyberg, who has also been with the National Park Service for almost 20 years, shares the facts about the new Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park and its nationally significant story.??

Musical duo Atwater & Donnelly perform in a free outdoor concert on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 6pm. Traditional American folk music and dance will provide glimpses of people and places in US history. ??Funny songs, beautiful songs, thought-provoking commentary, and sing-alongs, examine the wonder of being American. Atwater & Donnelly blend harmonies and play an array of instruments including guitar, dulcimer, tin whistle, harmonica, banjo, lumberjacks, and other surprises including a thrilling interpretation of freestyle Appalachian clog dancing.????The audience is encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a picnic.
