Public Invited To See America???s Newest Tall Ship

Upcoming Events for SSV Oliver Hazard Perry

NEWPORT, RI (Sept. 1, 2016) ??? The 200-foot SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, this country???s newest Tall Ship and one of only 75 Tall Ships in the world designated by Sail Training International as Class A, will be open for free tours at Fort Adams State Park on three occasions: Saturday, September 3 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.); Saturday, September 24 (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.); and Sunday, September 25 (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.).

The largest privately-funded, actively sailing civilian Tall Ship in the U.S., Perry also is Rhode Island???s Official Sailing Education Vessel.

Fort Adams State Park, where SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is permanently berthed while not underway on voyages, is situated at the mouth of the Newport Harbor, offering an exceptional panoramic view of both Newport Harbor and the East Passage of Narragansett Bay.

Newport International Boat Show For boat show ticket holders only Thursday ??? Sunday, September 15-18, 2016 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) The Newport International Boat Show encompasses 13 acres of Newport waterfront and exhibits all types of sail and powerboats ranging from 16 feet to 100+ feet.

Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival A small fee will be charged Saturday ??? Sunday, October 15-16, 2016 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

The annual Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival is a free fall tradition on the Newport waterfront where vendors and restaurants offer their culinary takes on the bounty of the Ocean State. SSV Oliver Hazard Perry will be dockside and open for tours on all days for a small fee.
