PAWTUCKET HALL OF FAME COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES CHANGE OF VENUE FOR OCTOBER 28 EVENT

Pawtucket:?? Patricia Zacks, Chair of the Pawtucket Hall of Fame Committee, announces that due to strong ticket sales, the 2016 Pawtucket Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony has been relocated to the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center, 172 Exchange Street, Pawtucket, RI, which will provide for a larger space for those wishing to purchase tickets to this awards event.

?????Our desire is to create a wonderful evening for our inductees and their guests. Moving to this larger venue will allow us to accommodate everyone wishing to join us for the evening???, says Zacks. ???We are ???Pawtucket proud??? of this strong class of inductees, and utilizing the historic Pawtucket Armory provides us the additional space we required for continued ticket sales.??? ???The reality was, as soon as tickets were put on sale, we quickly sold out and were turning people away.???? We are now able to provide more seating for family, friends and the general public wishing to attend???.

According to Zacks, this year???s Pawtucket Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 beginning at 6pm (reception), 7pm (dinner), now to be held at the Pawtucket Armory Center on Exchange Street.

??Zacks says that tickets may be purchased at the Blackstone Valley Visitor???s Center, 175 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI, open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.????????????

This year???s Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Anchor/Reporter,?? Alison Bologna from WJAR NBC10, adds Zacks.

Tickets are $40.00 per person (cash or check only) and may be sold as tables of (10) to accommodate a group or family.???? Tickets should be purchased early and as available.?? Tickets will not be sold at the door.?? Checks should be made payable to: Pawtucket Hall of Fame Committee.?? This award is given to those individuals who have gone “above and beyond” in their community service activities and/or being a vehicle that shines a positive light upon the city. The Pawtucket Hall of Fame was established in order to recognize the pertinent and outstanding contributions of these individuals.

??This year???s 2016 Pawtucket Hall of Fame Inductees are:?? (community leader/philanthropist and businessman) Melvin G. Alperin; ??(nationally-recognized horse trainer) Nino Calabro; ??(retired Pawtucket Policeman) Dino DeLuca; (the late-former Mayor) the Honorable James E. Doyle;?? (Senior VP of Revenue of the Americas-Associated Press) David Gwizdowski, (retired-Pawtucket Policeman and former State-Representative) the Honorable Attorney-General Peter Kilmartin; (the late-Pawtucket businessman) John Martins, and ??(Program Director/ Horticultural Therapist at The Arc of Blackstone Valley) Anna McLaughlin.?? In addition to these inductions, the tradition of ???Person of the Year??? award,?? which began two years ago, is a special award granted to the person the committee believes has made an outstanding contribution over the past year.??

This year???s award will be given to Terry Nau, author, former journalist and Vietnam Veteran for his contributions in bringing awareness to the 21 Pawtucket residents who were killed in the line of duty during the Vietnam War ??? ???Pawtucket???s 21 Heroes???.

??The Pawtucket Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization established in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Pawtucket as a city.?? The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor the contributions of people whose efforts, in any line of endeavor, have added to the heritage of the City of Pawtucket.??
