The Pawtucket Public Library is inviting young readers to participate in Kids Reading Across RI, Rhode Island???s One Book, One State community read program for kids. This program, offered in partnership with the Rhode Island Center for the Book at the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, encourages students across the state in grades 4 through 6 to read the same book, and engage in community discussions and programs.??

This year???s selected book is Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan. Joe and Ravi might be from different countries, but they are both stuck in the same school. Joe and Ravi don???t seem to have any similarities but soon enough they have a common enemy (the biggest bully in their class) and a common mission: to take control of their lives over the course of a single crazy week. The first 15 kids to sign up for this special session of the Book Club for Kids program will receive a FREE paperback copy of Save Me a Seat provided through the Kids Reading Across RI program and the RI Office of Library and Information Services. Register and receive the free book by visiting a Children???s Librarian at the Pawtucket Public Library. Best for kids in grades 4 and up but all kid readers are welcome. Once the reader is signed up and has the book, he or she can read it on their own or with someone else. All the readers are invited to attend the Book Club for Kids program on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00am in the Children???s Caidin Room to laugh about favorite parts, play a trivia game, and enjoy pizza.

Families are also encouraged to attend the Kick-Off Event for Kids Reading Across RI at the RI State House on Saturday, May 13th from 2pm -4pm to meet the authors, get the book signed, and visit activity tables from RI public libraries. This free event also includes free parking in all state lots. For more information, contact the Children???s Librarian at rperron@pawtucketlibrary.org or 401-725-3714 x209.
