BOSTON, ??MA??– Today, Beth Lindstrom, former Massachusetts Consumer Affairs Director, announced her candidacy for the United State Senate from Massachusetts.

In an online video announcement, Lindstrom said she will run as an independent-minded Republican who rejects partisan warfare in the current political climate and will seek to work with members of both sides of the aisle to find commonsense solutions. Lindstrom will make a formal announcement later this Fall.

Lindstrom Video Excerpts ??

???First, let’s get this out of the way right up front. I’m not a politician. I’m a mom who cares deeply about Massachusetts and where we are heading,??? Lindstrom said, ???I’ve had a lot of different jobs — I ran the state lottery back in the 90’s, I was also consumer affairs director for Mitt Romney when he was governor — but what I’m most proud of is raising three boys with my husband Ray.???

???Raising a family is a source of great joy and these days it’s also a cause for some anxiety. It’s not easy, especially when our political leaders engage in endless bickering and name- calling instead of working to find solutions. Some days I look at what’s happening in Washington and just shake my head. The politicians like to think the problem is all on the other side, but the truth is there’s plenty of blame to go around. We can do better, and you deserve better,??? she said.

???I???m running for Senate as an independent-minded Republican who believes we can getthings done if people would just get to work instead of trading insults or thinking about the next step on the political ladder. Don’t get me wrong ??? there’s a time and a place for arguing your point of view but at some point you have to stop the finger pointing and solve the problem,??? Lindstrom continued.

???If there is one thing you need to know about me it is this: I have always been a better listener than a lecturer. I only want to make progress for the sake of my family and yours,??? she concluded.

About Beth Lindstrom ??

Beth Lindstrom is the former director of the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. She is also a mom and small business owner. Among her proudest accomplishments is raising a family of three boys with her husband Ray. Beth has political experience as the first woman executive director of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

After that, she became executive director of the Massachusetts State Lottery. During her tenure, the state lottery was recognized as the most successful in the country as well as the most efficient.

In 2003, Beth was named by Governor Mitt Romney as Director of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, where she oversaw seven state agencies including the Department of Banks, Insurance, Telecommunications and Energy as well as the Divisions of Professional Licensure, Energy Resources, Standards and the State Racing Commission.

Through these agencies and other areas under her control, Beth was responsible for over $60 million in operating budgets. She was responsible for implementing a major reform of the auto insurance market that lowered rates for motorists. Previously, Massachusetts drivers had few choices as many insurance companies had fled because of the difficulty of doing business in the state.

By making changes in the law that opened the state to new competition, drivers had many more insurance products to choose from, and as a result prices came down.

Beth attended the University of Connecticut and received her Master in Business Administration from Northeastern University.

She lives in Groton with her family.
