The North Attleborough High School Theatre Company proudly presents its annual fall play, Mary Chase’s comedy “Harvey,” on November 17th and 18th , at 7:00 pm, in the Judith E. Cobb Theatre.

This hilarious and entertaining tale was popularized by the 1950 movie starring Jimmy Stewart.

The production is under the direction of Ms. Lisa Forsgard.

When Elwood P. Dowd, played by senior Alexander Rinaldi, starts to introduce his imaginary friend Harvey, a six-and-a-half-foot tall rabbit, to guests at an afternoon tea, his sister, Veta Simmons, portrayed by senior Michaela Aptt, has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate. She ultimately decides to institutionalize Elwood to save her daughter, Myrtle Mae, played by freshman Abigale McCally, and her family from future embarrassment.

When Veta meets the hospital staff, including the nurse Ruth Kelly, played by junior Sarah Robinson, and the orderly Duane Wilson, portrayed by sophomore Jason Montes, she is mistakenly assumed to be the crazy one, because she reveals that she too has seen Harvey.

The hospital staff realize they committed the wrong person, and begin to search for Elwood. When he shows up at the sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems that Elwood’s delusion has had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors, including Dr. Lyman Sanderson, is portrayed by senior Caleb Vargas.

In the end, Veta too realizes that maybe Harvey is not so bad after all.

Tickets are $15.00 for adults, and $12.00 for high school and younger students and senior citizens. They will be sold the week of the show at all lunches, and before and after school from Ms. Forsgard in Room 101.
