State Arts Council Announces 2018 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition to Open at URI Art Gallery

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts will present the 14th Annual RISCA Fellowship Exhibition, showcasing work by 26 artists who received Fellowship and Design Innovation Awards from the State Arts Council over the past year. The Fellowship Exhibition will run from March 2 through March 25 at the Main Art Gallery at the University of Rhode Island, at 105 Upper College Rd, Kingston, RI.

The RISCA Fellowship Exhibition is an annual event that showcases works by Rhode Island artists who have been awarded by the State Arts Council for artistic excellence.?? Fellowship winners receive a $5000 award and Merit Award winners receive a $1000 award. Each of these artists??? artwork will be included in the annual RISCA Fellowship Exhibition. ??

The 2018 Fellowship Exhibition includes the following events:

  • Artists Reception ??? Friday, March 2nd, 6-9pm
  • Writers Night – Friday, March 16th, 6-9pm
  • New Work by Vatic Kuumba & Rose Weaver ??? Thursday, March 22nd, 6-9pm
  • Closing Reception and Artists Talk ??? Sunday, March 25th, 1-4pm. ??

The Fellowship Writers Night on Friday, March 16 will include readings by Mary-Kim Arnold, Vatic Kuumba, Amy Pickworth, Sarah Satterlee, Michael Stewart, and Rose Weaver. The Thursday, March 22 evening of staged readings of new work by the playwriting fellows, Rose Weaver and Vatic Kuumba, will feature amazing Rhode Island performers. The closing reception on Sunday, March 25 will feature a performance by choreographer Heidi Henderson.
