Weaver Library presents authors Dennis Pratt and Tom Shaker to talk about their book A Treasury of Rhode Island Jazz and Swing Musicians at the Weaver Library on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 7pm in the Champlin Program Room of the library.
Music lovers will be fascinated by Pratt and Shaker???s research into the Rhode Island jazz scene over the past seventy-five years.??
With stories from Providence???s legendary Celebrity Club, the first interracial night club in New England, to the renowned Monday night Big Band jazz gigs that began with Duke Belaire and continue today with John Allmark, Pratt and Shaker discuss the history, the clubs, and the performers, whose talent took some beyond Rhode Island to national and worldwide stature.
