Author Holly Hodder Eger will share her creative writing process at a fall weekend gathering hosted by Edgartown???s Hob Knob Hotel & Spa, and all women interested are invited to sign up while availability lasts.

Eger, whose debut novel Split Rock was a semi-finalist in the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition in 2015, is a seasonal Martha???s Vineyard resident and a New England native.

Her book chronicles a woman???s self-exploration during a summer on the Island, and she???s currently working on her second novel.

Kirkus Reviews called Eger an ???intelligent, sensitive storyteller with a strong sense of place, vividly evoking Martha???s Vineyard???s residents, landmarks, shops, and atmosphere, [and she] writes dialogue, creates characters, and develops her tale with great skill.???

The women???s weekend workshops, scheduled for October 26-28, include discussions with Eger at Hob Knob, a picnic lunch at Lambert???s Cove Beach, and visits to the other iconic island locations featured in Split Rock. The cost is $300 (plus lodging) and includes a signed copy of the book. Island residents may sign up without lodging.

???We featured Holly several times at our summer teatime series, which we call the Art of Hob Knob,??? said Diane Carr, the hotel???s general manager. ???Our guests loved her, and they loved the book. It was such a terrific response that we decided to expand it into a women???s weekend, with Holly guiding the group along the path of her creative journey.???
