Fall River Grand Prix Added as the Second Stop in the??GEICO Triple Crown Racing Series
The Fall River Grand Prix will be hosted August 24-26.??
FALL RIVER, MA (July 2018) ??? The Third Annual Fall River Grand Prix is the second stop for the Offshore Powerboat Racing (OPA) GEICO Triple Crown Series.?? With record-breaking crowds for the second annual race in 2017, Fall River was an obvious choice to include for the three-city racing series.??
Additional races in the GEICO Triple Crown include the Ocean City Grand Prix, which took place in Ocean City, MD June 23-24, and the OPA World Championship Grand Prix in Englewood, FL Nov 15-18.?? The Fall River Grand Prix will be hosted August 24-26.??
The GEICO triple-crown series adds a limited-edition trophy and prize money to each of 10 classes of racing.?? To be eligible for the prize money, teams must enter and race at all three events.?? Winners will be determined during the final race in Englewood and awarded to the teams receiving the highest accumulation of points across all three races.?? The series is intended to attract additional world-class racing teams to participate.??
???The Miss GEICO team competed for the first time in the 2017 Fall River Grand Prix and really enjoyed the area.?? We were encouraged by the support of the Fall River community for this newly established race.????
We???re excited GEICO included Fall River as the second stop in the series and look forward to competing on the Taunton River in 2018,??? said Gary Goodell from the GEICO team.
The race weekend includes a meet-and-greet on Friday evening, race boat testing on Saturday afternoon, a boat parade and street party on Saturday evening, and competitive races on Sunday along the Taunton River in Fall River, MA.??
More than 50 race teams are expected to compete on the water race weekend. There will be three separate races on Sunday.??
