TEN MILE RIVER RAMBLES

Lighthouse Keepers’ Grave Sites Located

BY DON DOUCETTE

Located and paid our respects today at the Keeper Salisbury grave sites in Warren, RI. thanks to Alex Dias’ recent research.

They were the husband and wife keepers of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse during the late 19th century – the first keepers posted to that light station.

Captain Salisbury was a Civil War veteran born in 1801.

The grave sites are respectfully maintained as we observed two grazing juvenile deer.

All grave sites of the original Pomham Rocks Lighthouse keepers have now been located and are legible and well maintained.

Both Salisburys – Warren Ri

Dodge – Block Island, RI

Fishburn – Little Neck Cemetery, Riverside, RI

Aronson – Quidnesset Cemetery, North Kingston, RI

Howard – Bourne, MA (near Wing’s Neck)

Beebe – Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI

R.I.P. good and faithful servants.
