RISCPA ANNOUNCES CEREMONY HONORING BOB BATCHELOR, RETIRING AFTER 54 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PROFESSION

The Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants (RISCPA) is proud to announce the retirement of one of its most cherished members, Robert L.G. Batchelor, CPA, after an illustrious career spanning 54 years of unwavering commitment to the profession.

Having earned his CPA accreditation in 1971, Batchelor        , of West Greenwich, RI has been an integral part of the RISCPA and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) since the inception of his career. Notably, he was a co-founder of the esteemed accounting firm Batchelor, Frechette, McCrory, Michael & C which is recognized today as PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP, showcasing his visionary leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.

Throughout his remarkable journey, Batchelor has amassed a plethora  of accolades and recognitions, underscoring his exceptional contributions to the community and the profession. His distinguished achievements include receiving the Rhode Island Foundation Harold B. Soloveitzik Professional Leadership Award, St. Elizabeth Community Board of Trustees Awards, and the prestigious Anchor of Hope Award  from the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island in acknowledgment of  his  25 years of voluntary service. 

Moreover,  he  was  honored  with  the inaugural Mission Award in 2011 by the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants, where held the prestigious title of Chairman of the Ethics Commission, further solidifying his legacy of excellence.

His dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence have not only shaped our profession but have also inspired generations of CPAs. Bob has been a beacon of leadership and mentor to so many of us, and his legacy will continue to reasonate within our community for years to come.

We are profoundly grateful for his invaluable contributions, and we wish him and his wife Ruth a retirement filled with joy, fulfillment, and well deserved relaxation.”

​Beyond his professional endeavors, Batchelor is a military veteran and a committed Mason, embodying the values of integrity, service, and leadership in every facet of his life.In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Rhode Island House of Representatives will commemorate Batchelor in a special ceremony at the State House on April 23rd, underscoring hisprofound impact on the community and the state.
