Are you a succulent enthusiast with a story to share? Skydog Farm is thrilled to announce the “Succulent Lover” Essay Contest—your chance to win a one-of-a-kind succulent collection cultivated with love and care over the past nine years.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, what better way to celebrate than with a contest inspired by my heart collection—a group of succulents that have been a central part of my life and journey? This contest is a perfect opportunity to connect with nature, celebrate growth, and nurture something deeply meaningful.
These plants hold a special place in my heart and have been with me since my partner, Mark Phillips, and I founded Skydog Farm in 2017. Mark, a seasoned farmers market vendor with over a decade of experience, inspired me to contribute to our shared business by growing succulents. They perfectly complemented his hydroponic greens and herbs while offering a low-maintenance crop for my busy commute between South County and Northern Rhode Island.

In 2019, we purchased our two-acre sanctuary in North Scituate, where we’ve gradually shifted focus from agricultural sales to cultivating a resilient community centered on regenerative health, education, and creativity. In 2025, we’re dedicating our time to expanding the regenerative food forest and medicinal gardens.
Passing along my succulent collection allows me more precious time to dedicate inspiring others, teaching the lost sacred arts in my new inspirational series titled; Rewilding Your Sanctuary and the accompanying book, along with continuing to nuture The Kind Tribe Community.
It’s time to pass this collection on to a new caretaker whose story resonates with its essence so that I can pass along the wisdom of : ceremony, herbalism, meditation, community, kitchen alchemy, art and earth keeping.
