Dear Pawtucket Community,

I am thrilled to announce the launch of the Building Improvement & Small Business Affordability Grant Program, an incredible opportunity to strengthen our small business community and revitalize Downtown Pawtucket. With $2.75 million in funding available, this program is designed to help building owners upgrade their properties while providing affordable commercial space for low- to moderate-income small business owners.
This initiative is about investing in our future, ensuring that small businesses—especially those disproportionately affected by COVID-19—have access to quality, affordable spaces where they can grow and succeed. By improving our commercial properties and reducing vacancies, we are not just enhancing our streetscapes but also creating new opportunities for economic growth.
If you are a building owner in Downtown Pawtucket looking to renovate vacant or underutilized commercial spaces, this program offers financial support for projects such as storefront and façade improvements, energy efficiency upgrades, building rehabilitation, code compliance, and environmental remediation.
Applications are now open and the deadline for submissions is March 13, 2025. To assist potential applicants, we will be hosting a virtual Q&A session on March 3, 2025, at 11:30 AM, where you can learn more about the program and ask any questions. All completed applications must be submitted via email to arpa-bip2@pawtucketri.gov.
This is a transformative opportunity to enhance our downtown while making commercial space more accessible and affordable for small businesses. I encourage all eligible building owners to apply and take advantage of this initiative.

Warm regards,
Mayor Donald Grebien
