RHODE ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY – SABIN’S SPIRIT DISTILED WHISKY – CELEBRATE 250TH

Historical Society Partners with Local Distiller to Release Whiskey for Nation’s 250th

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rhode Island Historical Society is pleased to announce the opening of pre-sales for Sabin’s Spirit, a whiskey barrelled and aged in Rhode Island in honor of the 250th anniversary of America’s founding.

Created in partnership with Pawtucket’s White Dog Distilling, Sabin’s Spirit is inspired by Providence’s Sabin’s Tavern, where the Gaspee conspirators gathered to plot one of the first acts of rebellion of the American Revolution, storming and burning the British Royal Navy’s HMS Gaspee ship off the coast of Warwick, RI, a moment that would ultimately culminate in our nation declaring independence.

Aged in the distillery’s bourbon barrels, the whiskey features notes of honey and caramel, with a smoky finish and lingering sweetness.  It is comprised of 85 percent corn and 15 percent malt, making it similar to something that might have been enjoyed in Colonial New England.

White Dog Distilling Founders, Alecia and Carlo Catucci, say, “It’s the first time we’ve aged this volume of alcohol, whisky specifically, so it’s exciting to do that for the first time with the Rhode Island Historical Society.”

The commemorative whiskey will debut at the Rhode Island Historical Society’s Golden Ball gala on Saturday, June 27. Limited preorders are available through White Dog Distilling with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Rhode Island Historical Society. Learn more by visiting whitedogdistilling.com
