THE COMMUNITY GALLERY

John Adams by Peter A. Campbell
The Community Gallery is located in the lobby of the Attleboro Arts Museum’s Emory Street entrance.
For over a decade the Museum has been pleased to offer this prominent gallery space as an exhibition opportunity for both promising and professional artist members. Community Gallery artist exhibitions span multi-month periods. This extended exhibition period provides member artists more exposure in the museum’s high- traffic Community Gallery space.
A longer show allows visitors to spend more time with the works on display and provides an opportunity for the scheduling of special group tours and visits with coincinding exhibits in the main gallery.
Now through July 30th , 2026, The Founding Fathers – A Series of Paintings by Peter A. Campbell will be shown. “Over this past winter, after much reading and contemplation on the American Revolution and the Founding Fathers in relation to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the US, I put paint and brush to canvas and created a series of large portraits exploring these iconic, and often complicated, figures who helped create a new nation,” remarks Peter A. Campbell.
Campbell continues, “At this time in our history, we are a nation divided. The political battle over immigration, the sky-rocketing cost of living in America and the ongoing attacks on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights raise the question – can our democratic system and our way of life survive?
Abraham Lincoln said it best, ‘America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we lose our freedoms, it will be because we have destroyed ourselves from within.’
On America’s 250th birthday I hope my portraits of these heroic men and women, who sacrificed so much, will encourage us to reflect on our past and renew our commitment to the ideals of democracy.”
