Sleeping Mat Project to begin at the Weaver Library
Recycle plastic grocery store bags for a good purpose! Riverside resident Lucy Pereira will demonstrate how to make a plastic yarn called Plarn at the Weaver Library on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 11am ??? 12pm. ??Volunteers of all ages can learn how to make Plarn. Those who crochet or wish to learn how to crochet will use the Plarn to make sleeping mats. Mats made with Plarn act as a thermal and moisture barrier for those people forced to sleep outside.
You can volunteer to do as little or as much as you would like. Most of the work will be done in your own home. Completed mats??will be donated to organizations who assist the homeless in Rhode Island.
