A KEN GRAVES MarcusDagan-5a

MARCUS DAGAN

Marcus Dagan will be performing the music of Leonard Cohen on Saturday, Feb. 3, 7:30 p.m. at the Original Congregational Church in the center of Wrentham.??

Leonard Cohen was a Canadian poet, songwriter, singer, musician, and novelist.?? He was born in 1934 and passed away Nov. 7, 2016.?? He didn???t launch his music career until 1967 at the age of 33.??

Perhaps his most famous song, ???Hallelujah???, was released in 1984.?? He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, among many other honors.

His song Suzanne became a hit for Judy Collins, and many others such as Joan Baez included it in their shows.??

His many other songs include ???Bird on the Wire???, ???So Long, Marianne???, ???Tower of Song???, ???Dance Me to the End of Love???, and ???Famous Blue Raincoat???.??

Writing for AllMusic, critic Bruce Eder assessed Cohen’s overall career in popular music by asserting that “[he is] one of the most fascinating and enigmatic … singer-songwriters of the late ’60s …

Second only to Bob Dylan (and perhaps Paul Simon), he commands the attention of critics and younger musicians more firmly than any other musical figure from the 1960’s who continued to work in the 21st century.”

Marcus Dagan is originally from Bermuda, and recently moved to Walpole from Baltimore, Maryland.??

He performed in Baltimore and with Norwegian Cruise Line, and is currently playing and singing at various venues in this area.?? The music of Leonard Cohen is only one part of his large repertoire.?? It???s amazing how well he captures the essence of Cohen in his performances.

Tickets for the concert are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, available at the church office, 508-384-3110, or at www.musicatocc.org

The event will be in the Fellowship Hall at the rear of the church.

Parking is available behind the church and in the lot across the street.??
