HYLANDER LECTURE
Join us on Thursday February 15, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Community Room for Dr. Gary Hylander, PhD – High Crimes And Misdemeanors.
Dr. Gary Hylander, PhD will once again entertain and enlighten us with American history. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the impeachment trial of President Andrew Johnson. The framers of the Constitution had provided a legislative remedy to remove an errant president. Article II of the Constitution stipulated that a president could only be impeached and removed from office on conviction of ???treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors.??? Join us as we discuss how the post war Civil War politics and partisanship of Reconstruction led to the impeachment of President Johnson.
Dr. Gary Hylander, PhD is a scholar and professor who has taught at Stonehill College and Framingham State University and lectured for many cultural and educational forums including the Norton Institute for Continuing Education (NICE).
