Korean Luncheon and Film
Join us for an afternoon of Korean culture. The Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project will present the film King Sejong the Great: The Everlasting Light of Korea and serve a small luncheon of Korean food in traditional Korean bronzeware called Banjja.
King Sejong was a much beloved ruler whose motto was, “The duty of a king is to love his people. That is all.”
His rule saw numerous cultural and scientific achievements and the invented of the Korean alphabet, Hanguel, which he hoped would eradicate illiteracy in his country. The Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project says, “kings…recalled from history classes are mostly conquerors who increased their territory.
Instead of learning only about the greatness of kings who invaded other countries…we should learn about the benevolence of a king who represented the best of humanity”.
We hope you’ll join us for this informative and culture experience! Seats will be limited so please register online or call the library at 508-222-0157.
